Bengaluru Airport Launches 'Connections By BLR' To Streamline Transfers Across Terminals

Kempegowda International Airport has rolled out a new passenger transfer initiative aimed at simplifying connecting journeys as the airport positions itself as a major transit hub.

The programme, called Connections by BLR, has been introduced by Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL) to address common pain points faced by transfer passengers and make the process smoother across terminals.

"In collaboration with airlines and other stakeholders, Connections by BLR simplifies and standardises the transfer journey for passengers across terminals to deliver an enhanced travel experience. This initiative strengthens KIA's positioning as a transfer-focused gateway, supported by expanding infrastructure and growing passenger traffic," BIAL said.

Among the key improvements are dedicated transfer desks across both terminals, clearly visible colour-coded wayfinding signage and designated transfer zones to guide passengers more efficiently.

Travellers can also use complimentary inter-terminal shuttle services designed to minimise waiting times.

The airport has also enhanced amenities within transfer areas. Passengers will have access to lounges, retail and food outlets, as well as sleeping pods for short rest breaks. Transit hotels located within Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 offer boutique rooms for travellers with longer layovers.

BIAL said international transfer traffic at the airport has increased by more than 30 per cent year-on-year, reflecting rising demand. At present, connecting passengers account for around 15 per cent of the airport's total traffic, a share that is expected to reach about 20 per cent by 2026.

The airport's expanding infrastructure is also supporting this growth. Key projects include the West Cross Taxiway, refurbishment work at Terminal 1 and the ongoing expansion of Terminal 2.

Currently, the airport connects to 114 destinations worldwide.
