Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary has directed the Road Construction Department (RCD) to initiate work on the proposed Safiabad (Munger)-Sabour four-lane Ganga corridor planned along the river route through Sultanganj and Bhagalpur.

The project is expected to be executed under either the Hybrid Annuity Model (HAM) or a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) framework.

The directive was issued during a high-level review of road and bridge infrastructure projects at Lok Sewak Awas.

Calling for strict adherence to construction schedules, the Deputy Chief Minister instructed officials to ensure that project execution remains timely and meets prescribed quality standards.

Emphasising the government's commitment to infrastructure development, Choudhary stated that road and bridge construction remains a priority area and assured that funding would not be a constraint for either new projects or maintenance works.

The review meeting also highlighted the importance of bridge safety across the state. Choudhary directed the department to engage technical experts for periodic inspections and conduct safety audits of bridges in line with established engineering norms.

During the meeting, Road Construction Department Secretary Pankaj Kumar Pal presented an update on ongoing highway and bridge projects, maintenance activities and future infrastructure plans.

Senior officials present included Road Construction Minister Kumar Shailendra, Chief Secretary Pratyaya Amrit, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Deepak Kumar, and representatives from the Bihar State Bridge Construction Corporation and Bihar State Road Development Corporation.
