The Center for Indic Films has announced a structural overhaul as it enters its seventh year, replacing the long-running Indic Film Utsav with two separate festivals catering to distinct audiences and formats.
The platform built its reputation over six years by screening more than 350 films, operating first as an OTT festival for four years before transitioning to a physical theatrical festival in Dallas for two years.
Going forward, the initiative will run as two independent events. The Indica Dallas Film Utsav will be a three-day in-person theatrical event held each November in Dallas, with the next edition scheduled for 13 to 15 November 2026 at Galaxy Theaters.
The Indica Heritage Film Utsav will be a digital festival running annually every March, focused on civilisational, cultural and heritage cinema accessible to global audiences around the clock. Its next edition is set for 11 to 14 March 2027.
"Cinema is one of the most powerful mediums to preserve and transmit civilizational knowledge. At INDICA, we strongly believe in the power of positive cinema, stories that uplift, inspire, and reflect the deeper values of our civilization. With this dual-format evolution, we are creating both a global digital platform and a vibrant physical gathering space to celebrate such meaningful storytelling," said Hari Vadlamani, Founder of INDICA.
"Each festival is designed with a clear audience in mind and delivers distinct value. The Dallas event offers a wholesome, immersive film festival experience for local audiences, featuring Indic films across features, documentaries, and shorts, along with workshops, contests, and filmmaker socials. The online event, on the other hand, caters to a global audience through a 24/7, anytime-anywhere model, ensuring these important stories are accessible beyond geographic boundaries," said Danji Thotapalli, Chief Curator and Co-founder of the Center for Indic Films.
