Delhi Plans Traffic Relief For Sangam Vihar-Badarpur Corridors With DMRC Feasibility Study

Delhi Plans Traffic Relief For Sangam Vihar-Badarpur Corridors With DMRC Feasibility Study

The Delhi Public Works Department has sanctioned Rs 1.5 crore to appoint the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation as a consultant for a feasibility study and preparation of a detailed project report (DPR).

The study will focus on the stretches between Sangam Vihar and Maa Anandmayee Marg, as well as the corridor connecting Pul Prahladpur and Badarpur.

These routes serve as vital connectors for thousands of daily commuters travelling across the southern parts of the capital and towards neighbouring Faridabad.

Authorities say persistent congestion, chaotic intersections and rising traffic volumes have made these corridors particularly challenging for commuters.

Areas such as Sangam Vihar rely heavily on Maa Anandmayee Marg for access to other parts of the city, leading to frequent bottlenecks during peak hours.

The upcoming feasibility study will examine traffic patterns, physical constraints and engineering challenges along the route. Officials said the process will involve traffic surveys, topographical mapping and soil investigations to identify viable infrastructure solutions.

Potential measures under consideration include road widening, construction of flyovers or underpasses, improved drainage systems to reduce waterlogging, and enhanced pedestrian infrastructure to ensure safer movement for residents.

Once completed, the DPR will outline the detailed engineering plan, estimated costs, and timelines required for implementation.

The proposed initiative is also being aligned with an upcoming metro corridor to enable integrated planning of road and rail infrastructure in the area.
