Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri will travel to Paris and Berlin starting Sunday (12 April) for a three-day round of high-level consultations focused on energy, trade and defence, all areas that have gained urgency against the backdrop of growing geopolitical instability, the Business Standard reported .

The Europe leg follows Misri's just-concluded visit to the United States, where he held meetings with Secretary of State Marco Rubio and other senior Trump administration officials.

The ongoing West Asia crisis and its implications for global energy security are expected to feature prominently in his discussions with European counterparts.

In Paris, Misri will co-chair the India-France Foreign Office Consultations with Martin Briens, secretary general of the French Foreign Ministry.

The two sides are expected to take up a broad set of issues spanning defence, civil nuclear energy, space, cyber and digital cooperation, artificial intelligence and people-to-people exchanges alongside developments on the global and regional stage.

In Berlin, the foreign secretary will lead the India-Germany Foreign Office Consultations alongside Geza Andreas von Geyr, state secretary of the German Foreign Office.

The agenda will cover trade and investment, defence and security, technology, green energy, development cooperation and education, in addition to wider geopolitical matters.

Misri is also likely to hold separate meetings with other senior officials and dignitaries in both capitals.

The visit comes on the heels of recent high-profile engagements between India and Europe.

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz visited India in January, followed by French President Emmanuel Macron in February.

The Ministry of External Affairs said Misri's trip will offer an opportunity to review the full range of bilateral ties with both countries and push forward cooperation across priority sectors.
