The Ghaziabad Development Authority has finalised preliminary designs and cost projections for the planned international cricket stadium coming up near Raj Nagar Extension, with officials stating on Wednesday (1 July) that a detailed project report will be ready in about two months.
The stadium, to be built on greenfield land close to Harnandipuram and an upcoming aerocity-style township, will accommodate nearly 35,000 spectators and include a sports academy.
Authorities said the entire project would take around three years to complete once construction gets underway.
"In the next two or three days, we will float a request for proposal (RFP) for selecting a consultant, and the DPR for the stadium will be prepared in the next two months. The preliminary design and estimates have been prepared, and final approval from the state government is awaited. The project cost is about Rs 650 crore, including Rs 480 crore as the construction cost," GDA vice-chairperson Nand Kishor Kalal was quoted as saying by the Hindustan Times.
The GDA board had cleared a 50:50 partnership with the UP Cricket Association on May 14 to build the stadium across 34.42 acres, following which the authority sent its final proposal to the state government for clearance.
Officials also said the stadium site lies close to the Hindon river, where the GDA intends to build an embankment along with a six-lane road at an estimated cost of Rs 185 crore.
Kalal explained, "The alignment of the road is being finalised. The road will function like an outer ring road, starting from the endpoint of the Hindon Elevated Road and providing connectivity to GDA's proposed Harnandipuram and aerocity-themed townships, besides the cricket stadium. Once the embankment and road are constructed, they will provide smooth and seamless connectivity to the three projects."
Talks around building the stadium have continued since 2018, gaining momentum after Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath directed the GDA to speed up work during his visit to Ghaziabad on 26 June 2025, leading to the joint venture with UPCA.
