Ludhiana-Jakhal Daily Passenger Train Extended To Jind As Indian Railways Increases Route Length From 128 Km To 200 Km

Indian Railways has approved the extension of the daily Ludhiana-Jakhal passenger train up to Jind station under Northern Railway, a move aimed at strengthening regional rail connectivity between Punjab and Haryana.

The decision, announced yesterday, increases the route length from 128 kilometres to 200 kilometres, providing direct and uninterrupted connectivity between the two cities.

With the extension, Train No. 54054 will now operate from Ludhiana to Jind, while Train No. 54053 will run from Jind to Ludhiana, replacing the earlier Ludhiana-Jakhal operation.

The move is expected to benefit daily commuters, students, office-goers, traders and other passengers travelling between the two states.

The extended service will eliminate the need for passengers to change trains at Jakhal for onward journeys to Jind, resulting in a more seamless travel experience across the region.

Commercial stoppages at all stations between Jakhal and Jind will improve accessibility for passengers from towns and villages along the route.

The decision reflects Indian Railways' continued focus on strengthening passenger services through demand-based operational improvements. The project will facilitate smoother rail travel whilst enhancing connectivity between important urban and rural centres in the region.
