Maharashtra has signed two major Memorandums of Understanding worth Rs 1.75 lakh crore with JW Global India Pvt Ltd and Shyam Steel, marking a significant boost to the state's industrial landscape.

The agreements, finalised in the presence of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, are expected to create over 11,500 jobs across multiple sectors, including clean energy, artificial intelligence and integrated steel manufacturing.

West Bengal-based Shyam Steel will invest Rs 10,000 crore to develop an integrated steel plant with a capacity of two million tonnes per annum in Gondpipri taluka of Chandrapur district.

The facility will generate 8,000 direct jobs and is expected to create indirect employment for over 4,000 individuals.

The project also includes the establishment of a 260 MW captive power plant to support operations.

JW Global India has proposed investments worth Rs 1.65 lakh crore, with a Rs 14,976 crore floating solar power project at Ujani dam in Solapur district, creating 500 permanent jobs.

The conglomerate's ambitious plans extend to AI campuses, green hydrogen projects and small modular nuclear reactors, which will add 3,000 jobs.

A facility using Haffner SYNOCA technology will produce 6,900 metric tonnes of green hydrogen annually, alongside generating 15,000 construction jobs and roughly 2,000 permanent technical positions across sectors.

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis stated that Maharashtra has entered a new era of industrialisation, driven by strategic policy reforms designed to convert investment interest into operational reality.

He emphasised that the state government is providing comprehensive support to investors, citing these multi-billion-dollar investments as prime examples of the state's booming industrial climate.
