The Anand station on India's first high-speed rail corridor between Mumbai and Ahmedabad has completed major structural works, with slab casting, roof and façade construction now finished, while cladding and staircase finishing operations are currently in progress.

The National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited, which is executing the 508-kilometre project, confirmed that structural steel work for the roof along with roof sheeting has been completed, while the external façade structure is also in place.

Lifts and escalators have already been installed at the station, with cladding and staircase finishing works currently in progress.

The station, located in Kheda district, represents a significant milestone as it was the first on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad corridor where the 425-metre long concourse level reached completion.

Construction work at Anand station began in December 2021, and the concourse slab, track slab and structural steel work are now 100 per cent complete.

The station will feature a platform length of 415 metres, a height of 25.6 metres, and a total built-up area spanning 44,073 square metres.

The high-speed rail corridor, being developed with Japanese Shinkansen technology, will connect 12 stations across Gujarat and Maharashtra. Eight stations fall within Gujarat, where construction has progressed significantly faster than the Maharashtra section.

The project experienced delays due to land acquisition issues in Maharashtra until 2021, though work has since accelerated across both states.

Anand station will be equipped with modern amenities including ticketing and waiting areas, a business-class lounge, nursery, restrooms, information booths and retail centres.

The design will pay tribute to India's White Revolution, reflecting the region's dairy industry heritage. Located just 600 metres from the existing Uttarsanda railway station, the facility will offer convenient connectivity.

Once operational, trains will operate at speeds of up to 320 kilometres per hour, reducing the journey between Mumbai and Ahmedabad to approximately two hours and seven minutes.
