Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha on Tuesday (5 May) alleged that the AAP-led Punjab government is engaging in "vendetta politics" by weaponising state agencies against lawmakers who recently left the party and merged with the BJP.

Chadha, accompanied by three fellow MPs, called on President Droupadi Murmu and submitted a formal representation detailing what they described as politically motivated harassment since their departure from AAP on 24 April.

"All those MPs who exercised their constitutional right to express disagreement with the Aam Aadmi Party and chose to leave it, and all these incidents and developments, have been presented today before the President of India. I also want to tell the Aam Aadmi Party that as long as we were obedient, we were considered cultured. The moment we left, we were branded corrupt," Chadha told reporters outside Rashtrapati Bhavan.

He pointed to specific cases of alleged intimidation. Chadha claimed that MP Harbhajan Singh had "traitor" scrawled outside his home and stones thrown at his residence, purportedly with the involvement of Punjab Police.

He also alleged that MP Rajendra Gupta, a Padma Shri awardee whose factory in Punjab's Malwa region employs around 30,000 people, saw his water supply severed and faced raids from the Pollution Board aimed at shutting down operations.

Regarding MP Sandeep Pathak, Chadha said FIRs filed against him were baseless. "These FIRs and notices are so frivolous that they are not worth the paper they are written on. The judiciary will tear them apart," he said.

He cautioned the AAP government against continued use of enforcement agencies for political retribution. "Using vigilance, the Pollution Board, and the police for political revenge is a dangerous game. You may have started it, but the end will not be good. This must stop," he warned.
