'Highly qualified people joining Forest Department a positive sign'
Hyderabad: Special Chief Secretary (Forests) A Shanthi Kumari said it was a welcome sign that people with higher qualifications were prepared to join Forest Department and doing their bit for forest conservation.
The Special Chief Secretary was chief guest for the 29th Batch Forest Beat Officers' Passing Out Parade programme at Doolapally Forest Academy on Thursday. The event was held to commemorate the conclusion of six-month training of 38 forest beat officers. Of the 38 officers, 13 are postgraduates and 25 are graduates, who have been selected through Telangana Public Service as beat officers.
Principal Chief Conservator of Forests R Shobha said in the wake of Telangana government according top priority to forest protection and enhancement of greenery, the forest beat officers should work diligently in this regard.
The Forest Academy Director said besides conventional training, the beat officers were given special training in weapon handling, surveying and jeep driving. Kothagudem Forest Range Officer CH Srinivasa Rao was presented with the annual KVS Babu Commemorative Award. Apart from gold medal, he was offered Rs 15,000.
