Madhu Park Ridge residents oppose land acquisition for Gandhi Sarovar Project

Hyderabad: Residents of Madhu Park Ridge facing displacement due to the proposed Gandhi Sarovar Project have unanimously resolved to pursue a legal fight against the project.

At the general body meeting held on Sunday, the residents whose properties would be affected as part of land acquisition consented to oppose the project and to go to legal battle.

The process of property owner signing the consent and adding required details is expected to take four to five days, Giri Babu, a member of Madhu Park Ridge apartments RWA, told 'Telangana Today'. "We have also decided to approach the court after the State government's PowerPoint presentation on the Gandhi Sarovar Project, likely to be held on March 13 and a DPR in the ensuing Assembly sessions," he added.

By the month-end, MPR residents plan to file a PIL against the land acquisition decision for the project, said another member.

N Sambasiva Rao, retired bank manager, Madhu Park Ridge: "I fulfilled my dream of having my own flat here and spent nearly Rs 20 lakh on the flat for woodwork. At any cost, I will not accept the flat for land acquisition for the Gandhi Sarovar Project."

M Srinivas, flat owner: “I bought a three-bedroom flat when the buffer zone limit was up to 9 meters. According to preliminary information, my apartment, including my flat, will be affected as revenue authorities announced a buffer zone norm up to 50 meters. There is no clarity on the buffer zone norm."
