Protest against SRH over Telangana players' neglect

Hyderabad: Former Sports Authority of Telangana chairman and founder-president of Telangana Districts Cricket Association A Venkateshwar Reddy led a protest demonstration against the 'neglect of Telangana cricketers with regard to selection to Sunrisers Hyderabad'.

Reddy, along with his supporters, staged a demonstration at the SRH office in Banjara Hills and submitted a memorandum to a representative, Mr Nagesh, of the franchise in this regard.

Reddy criticised the team’s action as unjust, noting that while approximately 100 cricketers from Telangana had registered to participate in the IPL player auction, SRH failed to acquire even a single one of them.

Reddy questioned the management, asking why SRH did not pick young Telangana players such as Aaron George and Aman Rao during the auction.

“SRH wants Telangana’s money and infrastructure, yet it refuses to provide even basic opportunities to local players from this region,” Mr Reddy said.

He appealed to the team management to engage in discussions with the IPL Governing Council and ensure that opportunities are provided to at least two local players who participated in the auction to join the SRH squad.
