Orange Travels to launch Hyderabad-New Delhi bus service
Hyderabad: Apart from rail and air connectivity to New Delhi, Hyderabadis will also have an AC bus option with Orange Tours and Travels getting ready to launch its services on Hyderabad - New Delhi route this summer. It is not just New Delhi, it is is also working on introducing AC buses from the city on Kolkata and Ahmedabad routes. After the Hyderabad- Kochi route, Hyderabad- New Delhi would be the longest bus route to be operated by Orange Travels from Hyderabad.
"All efforts are being made to launch the services from April this year," said M Sunil Kumar, Managing Director of Orange Tours and Travels while addressing at the Deshpande Foundation and Kakatiya Sandbox third Development Dialogue held at Nizamabad on Saturday. At present, there is no bus connectivity from Hyderabad to New Delhi, the idea is to offer an additional travel option for commuters. Like train, the distance will be covered in 24 hours in an AC bus, he said. There is considerable traffic on this route with most travellers forced to depend on trains and face challenges related to ticket availability.
"Fares have not been finalised and will be mostly about Rs 2,500 per head for the Hyderabad - New Delhi bus. Fares can be dynamic and there could be variation during weekends and weekdays," said Sunil Kumar, who hails from Nizamabad. As per the expansion plans, the organisation is also increasing its fleet from the existing 270 buses to 350 buses. Every day about 10,000 passengers travel in Orange buses, he claimed. With just an Ambassador car, he had launched Thirumala Cabs way back in 2000 and started Orange Tours and Travels in 2011. Presently, the company employs over 3,000 drivers, maintenance staff and others. "It is not all about dreaming big but it is about doing big," said Sunil Kumar.
