Reviewing the progress of various schemes and projects of his department at a meeting, Sarkar took stock of their implementation status, incomplete works and issues causing delays in timely completion.

According to an official release, Sarkar emphasised the proper and effective utilisation of government funds and directed officials to ensure transparency, quality and accountability in the execution of every project.

No negligence would be tolerated in utilisation of public money, he cautioned.

Sarkar directed officials to take strict action as per rules against contractors who had failed to complete works even after expiry of deadlines, the release said.

He also directed that such contractors be blacklisted wherever required for dereliction of duty and causing inordinate delays, it added.

The meeting also stressed expediting departmental works to ensure timely completion of all schemes and projects for public benefit.

"Ensuring punctuality, transparency and accountability in departmental functioning in public interest is the main objective of the government," the minister said.
