Another record jump of 29k Covid cases in India
India registered a record single-day jump of 29,429 Covid-19 cases, pushing its tally to 9,36,181, while the death toll climbed to 24,309 with 582 new fatalities. In the last 24 hours, 20,572 patients were declared cured, taking the total number of recoveries to 592,031. This is also the highest ever number of patients cured in a single day.
There are 3,19,840 active cases of the coronavirus infection currently in the country. The recovery rate currently stands at 63.23% while the number of recoveries exceeds active cases by 2.72 lakh.
Maharashtra recorded a massive surge of 7,975 new Covid-19 cases as its total case tally reach 2,75,640. As many as 233 new deaths pushed the total death toll to 10,982. Currently 1,11,801 active cases are present in the state. With 3,606 patients being discharged, the cumulative recoveries till date has gone up to 1,52,613. With 1,374 new cases reported, Mumbai's total case tally has now reached 96,474. However, only 22,888 of these are active cases. With 62 new deaths reported, the death toll has risen to 5,467 in the financial capital of the country.
For the fourth successive day in Tamil Nadu coronavirus cases continued to be over 4,000 but in some relief for the state 5,000 patients were discharged in the last 24 hours, taking the total recoveries to over 1.02 lakh.
Delhi recorded 1,647 new coronavirus positive cases and 41 deaths in the last 24 hours. Total number of cases rose to 1,16,993 including 17,807 active cases, 95,699 patients have been discharged. Delhi has witnessed so far 3,487 deaths due to pandemic.
In Haryana 678 new Covid-19 cases were reported, taking the total number of positive cases in the state to 23,306 including 17,667 recovered cases, 5320 active cases and 319 deaths. Meanwhile, Gujarat reported 925 Covid-19 cases and 10 deaths in the last 24 hours.
West Bengal saw a spike of 1,589 new coronavirus positive cases and 20 deaths have been reported in the state. The total number of cases rose to 34,427 including 12,747 active cases, 20,680 discharged cases, and 1,000 deaths have been recorded so far.
Karnataka recorded 3176 new coronavirus cases out of which 1975 cases are from Bengaluru, taking the total number of cases to 47,253.
