When Outreach Matters Most: IGF-India on the Frontlines of Northern Flood Relief (igfindia.org)

When disaster strikes, goodwill alone is not enough. Compassionate & generous donors often have the resources, but without local networks, logistics, and systems to identify real needs, relief can falter. This is where Impact Guru Foundation (IGF-India) has consistently stood out—as the trusted outreach partner that bridges intent with impact.

In September 2025, floods ravaged most of the Northern states with highest impact in Delhi, Jammu, and Punjab, displacing thousands of families, submerging farmland, and cutting off access to food, healthcare, and clean drinking water. Within days, IGF India mobilized a multi-state response with the support of committed corporates & individual donors— RJ Foundation, Varun Beverages Ltd, IKAN Talent Mobility, Amazon India, DonateKart, Voice of Dogras and millions of individuals. Together, they turned compassion into coordinated action.

In the capital, where floodwaters from the Yamuna displaced communities & vulnerable families living on the banks, IGF-India, organized health camps with support from IKAN Talent Mobility. Thousands of people staying in the temporary tents provided by Delhi administration in the relief camps, received free health check-ups, medicines, wound care, hygiene awareness specifically skin borne diseases, and chlorine tablets for safe water. Beyond treatment, these camps offered something equally critical—preventive guidance and reassurance in a time of fear.

Sundeep, CEO-IGF-India & Ravi, Head-Operations, during his visits interacted with hundreds of families and re-assured them with continued support. He recalls his 1st day visit to the flood-affected region, Sundeep paused beside a narrow alley where the water had only just begun to recede. The air was thick with the scent of damp earth and loss. Delhi administration & volunteers moved swiftly, ferrying supplies and checking on families. But it was one quiet corner that drew him in.

There, under a makeshift tarpaulin, lay an elderly mother—bedridden, frail, and still burning with fever. Her eyes, sunken yet alert, met his with a quiet dignity. Just the day before, she had been submerged in waist-deep water for over four hours, unable to move, her cries muffled by the storm. Her home—built over decades with savings from her late husband’s pension and her own small tailoring work—was now a shell of soaked memories. Sarees she had stitched for her grandchildren floated in the debris. The family photo, once framed proudly on the wall, was now curled and faded on the floor.

Sundeep knelt beside her, listening as neighbours recounted how they had formed a human chain to lift her to safety. “She’s our amma,” one young boy said, “We couldn’t leave her behind.”

In that moment, Sundeep saw not just the devastation—but the depth of community. The flood had taken homes, savings, and certainty. But it had also revealed something indestructible: the spirit of collective care.

He held her hand gently, promising that team IGF-India would help rebuild—not just walls, but dignity. And as he stood to leave, she whispered, “I have nothing left, beta… but I still have people”.

Continued with other states, IGF-India mobilized support to bring relief to submerged villages in Punjab too. On September 23rd, IGF-India teams, reached Firozpur district, Punjab where roads lay broken and homes were underwater.

On Day 1, despite waterlogged paths, 300+ families across three villages received essential relief kits packed with soap, detergent, sanitary pads, tarpaulins, toothbrushes, buckets, mosquito nets, and ropes.

For small farmers, elderly residents, and daily wage earners who had lost everything, the arrival of these supplies meant more than survival—it restored dignity. Women, in particular, appreciated the inclusion of “dignity items,” underscoring IGF’s sensitivity to real on-ground needs.

In parallel, across Jammu region too, supporting the rescue operations involving Army, NDRF, SDRF, BSF to evacuate stranded villagers, spearheaded a massive ‘Flood Relief Essential Kit’ distribution effort covering over a dozens of villages from Kathua to Bardhan, including the Garkhal area of Akhnoor. The operations of IGF-India team were led by the Trustee of IGF-India, Mr Ajay Khajuria, and team members – Manish, Sumit & Feroze. The entire initiative was sponsored by RJ Foundation, Varun Beverages Ltd of ‘Flood Relief Essential kits’ containing staples like rice, dal, sugar, tea, and biscuits, alongside hygiene products, candles, dignity kits for women, and nutrition packs for children.

The challenges were immense: impassable roads, flooded storage units, and heavy rainfall. But with support from local youth groups, administration officials, and IGF field volunteers, the relief drive not only reached displaced families but also reassured them that they had not been forgotten.

For many, it was the first sign that recovery was possible. As Sundeep Talwar, CEO of IGF-India, puts it: “Relief is not just about sending material/kits; it is about reaching every single person in need, with speed and dignity. Our strength lies in being the bridge between donors and communities—ensuring that every act of giving truly reaches the ground.”
