New Delhi. The government proposes to introduce faceless assessments for all procedures under the Income Tax Act . For example, the tax assessment of the taxpayer of Chennai can be done at the Income Tax Office of Surat and the tax assessment of the taxpayer of Surat can be done in Guwahati. Currently, the tax assessment has started under this process and from September 25, appeal cases will also proceed under this process.
The government introduced the Taxation and Other Laws (Waiver and Amendment of certain provisions) Bill-2020 in Lok Sabha on Friday. It proposes a faceless assessment for at least eight procedures under the Income Tax Act. The bill proposes a faceless assessment for income concealment, amortization, amendment, issue of notice, etc. Apart from this, it has also been asked to assess the impact of tax collection, tax collection, permission or registration and order in a faceless manner.
