Google Meet for Apple CarPlay has been announced by the company so users can make and receive audio calls via their car's dashboard.
Google Meet for Apple CarPlay has been announced by the company. Google says that this will allow "on-the-go professionals to stay connected hands-free and join meetings safely while on the road." Here's how the app works and what all features it has to offer.
With Google Meet for Apple CarPlay, users can now access Google Meet directly from their car's dashboard. This feature is designed to provide a seamless transition from your mobile iOS device to your vehicle, according to Google. "Whether you are commuting or traveling between appointments, you can now join meetings with a single tap, view your upcoming schedule, and participate in audio-only calls to maintain focus on driving," said the company in a Workspace blog post.
Further, Google notes that that when you join a meeting via Google Meet for Apple CarPlay, your camera is turned off and you won't see the incoming video content. You will hear the audio from the meeting and have audio input access from your microphone.
Finally, the company announced that Android Auto users can expect a version of Meet for Android Auto soon.
This feature will be ON by default for users with the Google Meet app installed on their iPhone. To use it, simply connect your iPhone to a CarPlay-compatible vehicle. Gradual rollout of the feature already began on March 23 and it will be available to all Google Workspace customers, Workspace Individual subscribers, and users with personal Google accounts.
Meanwhile, Apple CarPlay recently also gained ChatGPT support. ChatGPT is available in Apple CarPlay on supported iPhone models running iOS 26.4 or later. Once your iPhone and the ChatGPT App are up to date, you can open ChatGPT from your CarPlay screen and start a voice conversation while you drive. ChatGPT for Apple CarPlay is available globally on all ChatGPT plans.
