How to use the feature:

• Open a DM thread and tap the voice message record button.
• Tap the Voice Effects button in the composer to view available effects.
• Record your voice note as usual.
• Preview different effects by tapping on them to hear your recording transformed instantly.
• Send the message, and recipients can see the effect used and tap to mimic it in their reply.

The reason behind the move was confirmed by Instagram to The Verge, stating that ""very few people" were using E2EE in their DMs." The company has clearly mentioned on its support page that "End-to-end encrypted messaging on Instagram will no longer be supported after May 8, 2026."
