Snapdragon Wear Elite processor has been launched by Qualcomm for wearables like watches, pendants, pins, and more.

Snapdragon Wear Elite Chipset has been announced by Qualcomm as the "world's first Personal AI wearable platform that works across WearOS by Google, Android, and Linux with a NPU for on-device AI and advanced suite of ultra-low power connectivity solutions." Here's everything it offers.

The platform, made for form factors including watches, pins, pendants and more, includes the Hexagon NPU, which can support AI models with up to one billion parameters running on-device. Combined with sensor fusion, connectivity and low-power processing, this allows wearables to handle tasks like voice interactions, contextual recommendations and activity tracking without relying entirely on cloud processing.

In terms of performance, Snapdragon Wear Elite introduces notable gains over the previous generation. Qualcomm says the platform delivers up to 5x improvement in single-core CPU performance and up to 7x faster GPU performance. These changes are expected to support faster App launches, smoother multitasking and improved graphical rendering.

Battery efficiency has also further been improved, as the platform is designed to support multi-day usage, with power management enabling up to 30 percent longer daily use compared to the previous generation. When charging is required, Fast charging can bring a device to around 50 percent in about 10 minutes.

On the connectivity front, Snapdragon Wear Elite integrates multiple technologies including 5G RedCap, Micro-Power Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 6.0, UWB, GNSS and NB-NTN.

5G RedCap enables low-power cellular connectivity, while Micro-Power Wi-Fi supports always-on Wi-Fi usage with minimal energy impact. Bluetooth 6.0 enables proximity-aware interactions, and UWB allows for more precise location-based features such as device finding or access control.

GNSS enhances location awareness for AI-driven experiences, and NB-NTN enables satellite-based two-way Messaging in areas where traditional cellular or Wi-Fi networks may not be available.
