YouTube is debuting a new Reimagine tool in YouTube Shorts as a new AI-powered remix tool "that gives everyone the ability to transform a single frame from an existing YouTube Short into an entirely new 8-second clip." The new Reimagine tool in YouTube Shorts is powered by Google's Veo video generation AI model. With a few taps, viewers can insert themselves or objects into any eligible Short using up to two references from their photo gallery.

Then, using either Gemini-suggested or custom-generated text prompts, Reimagine creates a high-quality video with audio. Further, YouTube notes that every Reimagined Short links directly back to the original work, ensuring creators receive credit while expanding their reach to new audiences.
