The case reportedly began around 18 months ago when Ayan, also known as Mohammad Ayaz, started luring girls to a rented house in Amravati. His childhood friend Uzer allegedly helped him by recording videos. Initially, no videos were made public, although some images appeared on his social media accounts. The situation escalated when Uzer began circulating videos widely after their fallout.

Local councillor Mujeeb Rashid said, "Ten days ago, I heard about the viral videos, though I did not view them. I accosted Ahmed, who apologised profusely, and warned him that he was spoiling his life by going behind girls at an age when he should be focusing on studies. Ahmed promised he would mend his ways and went away."

He further said, "Ahmed said there was a video which was deleted and there won’t be any more trouble, I believed him." Later, it was revealed that multiple explicit videos and images were involved.

The victims were mostly girls from different towns who had come to Amravati for studies. Police suspect that social media platforms like WhatsApp and Snapchat were used to contact and trap them. The accused allegedly used a "love trap" method, took victims to cities like Mumbai and Pune, recorded videos, and later used those recordings for blackmail and coercion.

Uzer Khan reportedly had access to the videos. While the exact nature of his involvement is still under investigation, sources suggest he made the videos public after a financial disagreement with Ayan. Both Ayan and Uzer have been arrested. Ayan was caught in Paratwada and remains in police custody until April 21, 2026. Police recovered several objectionable videos from his mobile phone, and forensic experts are working to retrieve deleted data. Uzer Khan has also been arrested for circulating the videos. Around 100 videos were reportedly shared, and police have identified at least eight minor victims so far.
