The buzz around Cocktail 2 just got bigger. In a carefully planned media event held in Mumbai, the makers of the upcoming romantic drama invited journalists, influencers and industry insiders while teasing a "special surprise." While many expected a teaser or a cast appearance, the evening unfolded differently, with an exclusive first look at two songs from the film and the official trailer launch date reveal.
As the event progressed, attendees were shown two tracks from the film: Mashooka and Tujhko. And by the end of the screening, the makers officially confirmed that the trailer of Cocktail 2 will be released on May 29, ahead of the film's theatrical release on June 19, 2026. The announcement instantly generated excitement online, especially among fans waiting to see the chemistry between Shahid Kapoor, Kriti Sanon and Rashmika Mandanna together on screen.
Inside Mashooka: Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon's glamorous Sicily romance
Out of the two songs showcased at the event, Mashooka quickly emerged as the crowd favourite. The track reportedly features Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon romancing each other against the dreamy backdrop of Sicily, Italy. From sunlit coastlines and luxury villas to sweeping European visuals, the song appears designed as a glossy romantic anthem with large-scale production values.
Those present at the screening described Mashooka as vibrant, visually extravagant and highly commercial, exactly the kind of song expected to dominate playlists during the film's release season. Interestingly, after both songs were screened, the media present at the venue was asked to vote for their favourite track.
Mashooka reportedly received a significantly stronger response than Tujhko. Music composer Pritam then suggested that the makers honour the audience verdict and release Mashooka first. Producer Dinesh Vijan later confirmed the decision at the event.
Arijit Singh's 'Tujhko' brings a softer emotional layer
While Mashooka leaned into glamour and visual spectacle, Tujhko reportedly offered a more emotional and intimate side of the story. Sung by Arijit Singh, the song focuses primarily on the relationship between Shahid Kapoor and Rashmika Mandanna.
Unlike the energetic vibe of Mashooka, Tujhko is said to be a slow romantic ballad exploring longing, emotional vulnerability and heartbreak. The contrast between the two songs has already sparked speculation online about a possible love triangle narrative in the film.
All About Cocktail 2
Directed by Homi Adajania, Cocktail 2 is positioned as a spiritual successor to the 2012 hit Cocktail, which starred Saif Ali Khan, Deepika Padukone and Diana Penty. However, the makers have clarified that the new film is not a direct sequel. Instead, it carries forward the same emotional chaos, modern relationships and stylish urban storytelling that made the original film a cult favourite.
Produced by Maddock Films and written by Luv Ranjan, the film has been shot across Sicily, Delhi, Gurugram and several locations in North India.
Kriti Sanon reacts to comparisons with the original 'Cocktail'
With comparisons to the original film already flooding social media, Kriti Sanon recently addressed the pressure surrounding the franchise. Speaking at an awards event earlier this month, the actor acknowledged that comparisons were inevitable but clarified that Cocktail 2 is more of a "vibe franchise" than a continuation of the earlier story.
She also praised co-star Rashmika Mandanna, describing her as warm, genuine and kind. As anticipation builds, the upcoming trailer is now expected to offer the first real glimpse into the film's complicated relationships, glamorous world and emotional conflicts.
