Delhi Weather Update: IMD's Recent Forecast

Delhi woke up to stormy conditions as light rain took over in most parts of the city. Shortly after, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) updated the previous orange alert to a red alert, which means that the national capital is now on high alert. It also marks the end of an intense heatwave that prevailed for most of June.

Yes, according to the latest forecast, there is a high likelihood of rain today. "Moderate Thunderstorm/Lightning/Squally Winds (60-80 KMPH gusting to 100 KMPH ) accompanied with light to moderate rain at most places and moderate rain at many places over Delhi in next 3 hours", the advisory from IMD stated. It also shared that the stormy weather would affect the following districts of Delhi:

  • Central Delhi

  • East Delhi

  • New Delhi

  • North Delhi

  • North East Delhi

  • North West Delhi

  • Shahdara

  • South Delhi

  • South East Delhi

  • South West Delhi

Delhi Weather Forecast for Next 6 Days

Over the next 6 days, Delhi will enter an active monsoon spell, with 'a scattered thunderstorm' forecast for the majority of the days with light rain in between. The highest likelihood of rain (60%) is on 4th July, 2026 and 6th July, 2026 (55%).

However humidity level will remain high and stay between the range of 58% to 75%. Expect winds between the speed of 40 kmh to 50 kmh. These conditions could eventually herald the arrival of southwest monsoon to NCR for this year, with IMD noting that conditions are slowly turning favourable.

  • Minimum temperature: 29°Celsius

  • Maximum temperature: 39°Celsius

Delhi Weather Update: AQI Level

The current AQI level in Delhi is 39, which is considered to be 'good' (the range of 0-50 is designated good). This is because the monsoon led to fresh air and reduced the level of air pollutants. And judging by the forecast, expect the AQI this week to remain at good or satisfactory levels.
