Fact Check: Is MS Dhoni Playing For CSK vs KKR at Chepauk? Latest Fitness Update on Thala's IPL 2026 Return

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) legendary keeper-batter MS Dhoni could be closing in on returning to action in IPL 2026 after suffering the first three games due to injury.

According to a Revsportz journalist, the 44-year-old has started jogging inside the stadium during the practice session and could play the game on the 14th against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) should he clear the fitness test.

MS Dhoni's calf injury forces him to miss CSK's first three matches of IPL 2026

The former Super Kings captain has been nursing a calf injury that has forced him to miss the start of IPL 2026. Although the 44-year-old had recently resumed batting in the nets, it seems he will need time to return to match fitness and thus will miss the massive clash against RCB. Reports have also suggested that Dhoni could take as long as the end of April to return to the field. But the former Super Kings skipper could make a comeback to the side in the game against the Knight Riders on the 14th in Chennai.

Nevertheless, Dewald Brevis is likely to play the fixture against the Delhi Capitals on the 11th, providing a much-needed boost to Chennai's batting ranks.

Chennai Super Kings concede 250 runs for the first time in IPL history

In what was CSK's third consecutive defeat in IPL 2026, they had conceded 250 for the first time in the tournament history. Phil Salt (46), Devdutt Padikkal (50) and Tim David (70*) lifted the defending champions to an imposing total of 250 in 20 overs, setting the Yellow Army an improbable 251 for victory. Sarfaraz Khan (50), Prashant Veer (43) and Jamie Overton (37) did their best to take their side closer to the target but the Super Kings still fell 43 runs short.

With Brevis set to make a comeback in CSK's ranks, they will be massively boosted. But the Super Kings will still need to work on their bowling, especially at the death, a department where they have struggled. The Super Kings remain the only side along with the Knight Riders who are yet to win a game this year.
