One of the news report had claimed that an unnamed Pakistan cricketer had allegedly misbehaved with a female hotel staff member in Sri Lanka and was fined for his actions. Nevertheless, ARY News had seemingly mentioned Mirza's name in their report. A couple of days ago, the 32-year-old had published a story on Instagram and threatened a legal action, stating:

'An absurd news item is circulating on media and I strongly condemn this sort of cheap journalism. No media house can air any unverified news. #PakistanCricketBoard has already denied this baseless and fake news, and I'm going to take legal action against #ShahidHashmi (journalist), who works for ARY News. This sort of filthy reporting must be banned and the #GovernmentofPakistan must take action against such people!'

Nevertheless, the left-arm speedster, on Thursday, had demanded in his legal notice that the journalist must retract the report and the statement filed by him. Addionally, Mirza also called for an unconditional and public apology from him and an amount of OKR 100 million for the grave damages caused to his reputation.
