Why was Zhao Xington banned?
However, his career faced a major setback in January 2023 when he, along with several other Chinese players, was suspended by the World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association (WPBSA). Later, it was clarified that Zhao was not directly involved in fixing matches but was found guilty of placing bets on behalf of another player, Yan Bingtao, in matches played in 2022.
After serving his ban, Zhao made a strong comeback through the amateur Q Tour, winning four consecutive events and finishing at the top of the Q Tour Europe rankings. He qualified again for the 2024 UK Championship, although he was eliminated in the first round. Since then, he has rebuilt his career and returned to the top level with remarkable performances.
