Keeper-batter Sanju Samson flexed his class at the Wankhede Stadium, batting throughout the innings to lift the Super Kings to a match-winning total of 207/6. While Samson made 101* off 54 deliveries, reaching his ton in the final ball of the innings, none of the other batters couldn't contribute much as they threw away promising starts. Having peeled off his first century of the season against the Delhi Capitals, Samson is now the first CSK batter to notch two tons in a season.
Chasing 208, the Mumbai Indians lost Quinton de Kock (7), Danish Malewar (0) and Namn Dhir (0) in the first three overs. The procession continued after Tilak Varma perished for 37 and he was one of the only two of their batters to reach double figures along with Suryakumar Yadav (35). Left-arm spinner Akeal Hosein was the pick of the bowlers with stunning figures of 4-0-16-4. Noor Ahmad snared two, while Mukesh Choudhary, Anshul Kamboj, Jamie Overton and Gurjapneet Singh took one apiece.
Having been bowled for 104 and losing by 103 runs, it is also Mumbai Indians' heaviest loss.
