Gujarat Titans edged past Delhi Capitals by just one run in a thrilling IPL 2026 clash in New Delhi, despite a brilliant 92 off 52 balls from KL Rahul. Chasing 211, Delhi fell agonisingly short in the final over. Needing two runs from the last two balls, David Miller turned down a single before missing the final delivery, while Kuldeep Yadav couldn't beat Jos Buttler's direct hit.
Earlier, Shubman Gill led Gujarat's charge with a fluent 70, supported by Buttler (52) and Washington Sundar (55), guiding them to 210/4. In reply, Rahul and Pathum Nissanka (41) gave Delhi a strong start, but the middle order faltered. Miller's late unbeaten 41 kept hopes alive, though it wasn't enough in the end.

In this regard, it is intended to keep the format of the competition similar to that of the Indian Premier League 2023. In particular, it is planned to split all the teams into two groups. While teams from one group should play just one match each, teams from another group should participate in two matches.
All teams are to continue playing up to the completion of the group stage. Then, the best four teams according to the results should go into the playoffs. Two first teams are supposed to play "Qualifier 1" and the winner goes straight to the finals. Then, two other teams are to prove their superiority in order to get into the playoffs through the "Eliminator". In case of defeat, the team will leave the tournament. Then, "Eliminator" winner plays against "Qualifier 1" loser and the team that wins gets to play in the next round.
Speaking about ranking, there are lots of criteria used to estimate each team's standing on the leaderboard. For instance, it can be the number of trophies won by the team. At the moment, Rajasthan Royals occupy the leading position with 6 points.
