IPL 2026 Points Table: RCB Finish At Top Despite Huge Defeat To SRH In Hyderabad, Book Qualifier 1 vs GT | Check Updated Standings

SRH vs RCB, IPL 2026: Despite losing to the SunRisers Hyderabad in their last league game of IPL 2026, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have finished the league stage at the top of the points table.

A sizeable 55-run win wasn’t enough for the SunRisers to take over the Royal Challengers on net run-rate and secure a Top 2 finish. Instead, the Royal Challengers have set up the Qualifier 1 clash with the Gujarat Titans on May 26, Tuesday in Dharamshala.

SRH vs RCB, IPL 2026: SunRisers Hyderabad put up a destructive performance to bat the Royal Challengers Bengaluru out of the game

On what seemed like a high-scoring wicket, Pat Cummins won the toss and sent the Royal Challengers into bowl. The opening partnership between Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma lasted only 4 overs but it resulted in 45 runs, providing a peek into what was to come. Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan took on the mantle after Rasikh Salam Dar cleaned up Head with a pitch-perfect yorker. Abhishek perished shortly after a 20-ball fifty, while Heinrich Klaasen picked up the pace, taking Josh Hazlewood to the cleaners in his third over by belting him for 27 runs. Klaasen fell to a trademark Krunal Pandya bouncer, following which Nitish Kumar Reddy brought out his big hits. Ishan Kishan was dismissed in the final ball of the innings but carried the Orange Army to 255/4 in their 20 overs.

Venkatesh Iyer, promoted to open the batting following his heroics against the Punjab Kings, took SunRisers’ bowling to the sword before falling for 44. Virat Kohli had an off night and fell for 15, while Devdutt Padikkal managed only 21. The pair of Rajat Patidar and Krunal Pandya hardly went for the target and ensured to do just enough to ensure RCB secured the top spot heading into the playoffs. Despite Tim David’s big hits in the final over, the SunRisers eked out a big win.
