Is Neymar Out Of FIFA World Cup 2026? Reports Of Rift Emerge Between Carlos Ancelotti And Brazil Star

Brazillian footballer Neymar’s hopes of playing in the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2026 could be all but over as reports are coming out that head coach Carlo Ancelotti reportedly confirmed that he is out of the squad.

The development comes, just days before the veteran footballer was omitted out of the squad for Brazil’s forthcoming warm-up games after which he released a video of desperately wanting to come back to play in the mega tournament.

Why is Neymar out of Brazil’s consideration for FIFA World Cup 2026?

Having played in the three World Cup editions of 2014, 2018 and 2022, Neymar could well have played his last which was hosted by Qatar four years ago. As per CNN Brazil, internal sources have cited that Neymar is not being considered for the FIFA World Cup 2026 and described the situation as extremely complicated. The reasons are a couple, with first being the growing considerations among Brazil Football Confederation after his inconsistent appearances for Santos FC, owing to frequent injuries.

Nevertheless, more significantly, the 34-year-old’s reaction to his omission has reportedly not gone down well with the board officials as they feel Neymar is trying to draw fan and media sentiment. The report claimed that one incident has worsened the crisis when Ancelotti took a private jet to watch Santos FC play against Mirassol. However, Neymer reportedly opted out of the game, citing workload management and didn’t event meet the coach that could have showcased some commitment.

While there is no official statement or confirmation, recent episodes suggest that Neymar must make some herculean effort to force his way back into the national setup.

Brazil’s FIFA World Cup 2022 campaign ended in quarter-finals

Brazil, who have won the FIFA World Cup 2026 a record five times, had been eliminated out of the 2022 edition in the quarter-finals as Croatia defeated them 4-2 on penalties following a 1-1 draw. The South American nation will open their campaign this year against Morocco on June 14 at the MetLife Stadium.

Argentina are the defending champions as they beat France in the 2022 final on penalties.
