Abhishek Sharma set a record for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) with a stunning performance against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at Eden Gardens in Match 6 of IPL 2026 on April 2. He is the first Indian batter for SRH to hit 100 sixes in the league, which means he has reached the same level as former captain and legendary opener David Warner, who is also the only other player to have done this for the team.
After winning the toss, KKR decided to bowl. Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head dismantled the KKR bowling line-up from the beginning, carrying the SRH score to 84/1 at the end of the power play. Head played a brilliant innings of 46 runs with 21 balls before Kartik Tyagi got the better of him in the 6th over.
Here are the Top Six Hitters for SRH:
- David Warner - 143
- Abhishek Sharma - 101*
- Heinrich Klaasen - 89
- Kane Williamson - 64
- Travis Head - 50
KKR won the toss and chose to bowl. Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head exploded against the KKR attack right from the start, setting SRH at 84/1 in the powerplay. Head hit 46 off 21 balls before Kartik Tyagi got him out in the sixth over.
Abhishek kept pushing, smashing 25 off Varun Chakravarthy’s fifth over. He attacked both pace and spin with towering drives, staying aggressive even as defences grew tighter. His stay ended in the ninth over when Blessing Muzarabani took him on the fourth ball, the same ball that sent captain Ishan Kishan back to the pavilion.
Sharma closed with a blistering 48 off just 21 balls – explosive strokeplay all around. He now has 100 sixes for SRH, placing him second on the franchise’s list behind Warner (143) and ahead of Klaasen, Williamson, and Head. This performance, combined with his sharp cameo, cements Abhishek Sharma as one of SRH’s most dangerous batters in the IPL – even without a fifty to show for it. SRH Finished 226 in 20 Overs.
