Slovenian Basketball star Luka Dončić has taken a massive leap in the National Basketball Association (NBA) Most Valuable Player (MVP) rankings that is published on the league’s official website.
Having secured 51 points in Los Angeles Lakers’ win over Chicago Bulls on March 13, Friday, the 27-year-old has climbed to fourth in the new NBA MVP ladder.

Having surged to the fourth spot, the youngster is firmly in the race to win the season’s most prestigious award. He began the season with high MVP odds but took a dip following a series of injuries and Lakers’ struggles initially. Nevertheless, Lakers’ current hot streak, headlined by holding third rank in the NBA 2025-26 table, Dončić has again jumped in the race. But he must still overtake the likes of Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Victor Wembanyama and Nikola Jokić, – the three above him.
Dončić is currently averaging 32.9 points with 7.9 rebounds, 8.5 assists and 1.5 steals. The points makes him the leader of the table, while the assists is the third-best.

Nevertheless, the Slovenian athlete’s personal life remains in doldrums as he had to separate from his fiance as his efforts to spend more time with his daughters went in vain. According to TMZ, his fiance Anamaria Goltes had lodged petition for child support and attorney’s fees in California. Later, Dončić revealed that their engagement had ended after he was unable to have his two daughters more often than he wanted in the United States. He told The Associated Press:
“I love my daughters more than anything and I've been doing everything I can for them to be with me in the U.S. during the season, but that hasn't been possible, so I recently made the tough decision to end my engagement. Everything I do is for my daughters' happiness, and I will always fight to be with them and give them the best life I can.”
Having met as teenagers, Dončić and Goltes, who is a model, had dated for a decade before getting engaged in July 2023. The oldest daughter Gabriela took birth in November 2023, while the young Olivia was born in December 2025.
