Himachal Pradesh Weather Update: Rain and Cool Winds Bring Relief

A major weather change has been reported across Himachal Pradesh after several days of severe heatwave-like conditions. On Friday morning, strong winds and light rainfall were reported in many areas, including Shimla. The rainfall and cloudy weather caused temperatures to drop, bringing relief to residents who had been struggling with rising heat over the last few days. For the past three days, most parts of the state had been witnessing unusually high temperatures, and people were eagerly waiting for rainfall.

Himachal Heatwave: Temperature Crossed 44°C in Una

Over the last few days, even the hilly regions of Himachal Pradesh experienced heat similar to the plains.

• Una remained the hottest district in the state, where the temperature reached 44.3 degrees Celsius on Wednesday.
• In Neri of Hamirpur district, the mercury climbed to nearly 41 degrees Celsius. Temperatures also stayed above normal in Sundernagar, Mandi, Nahan, Kangra and Solan.
• Usually cooler places such as Shimla, Manali and Kalpa also witnessed warmer conditions during both daytime and nighttime.

IMD Issues Orange Alert for Rain, Thunderstorms and Hailstorm

The India Meteorological Department has issued a two-day weather alert for most districts of Himachal Pradesh.

An orange alert has been issued for Chamba, Kangra, Una, Hamirpur, Bilaspur, Solan, Shimla, Sirmaur, Kullu and Mandi districts. These areas may witness light to moderate rainfall, one or two intense rain spells, thunderstorms, lightning, hailstorms and strong winds with speeds of 40 to 50 km/h. A yellow alert has also been issued for parts of Lahaul-Spiti and Chamba, along with higher altitude areas of Chamba, Kangra, Kullu and Shimla.
