Chennai Super Kings (CSK) star MS Dhoni's entry into the ground of the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium sent the fans into frenzy as they made their presence felt at Roar'26 event in Chennai.
A video of the same surfaced on social media as spectators were seen going berserk when Dhoni stepped onto the ground.
MS Dhoni could be playing his final IPL season
Several former cricketers have predicted IPL 2026 to be the legendary keeper-batter's final one, given he has already turned 44. In a recent video after the practice session, the veteran was also seen limping and he has struggled with fitness issues in the last few editions. Nevertheless, Dhoni has remained mum about his future in the cash-rich tournament whenever asked.
The Ranchi-born cricketer has been the most successful captain in IPL, registering 136 wins in 235 games. Additionally, Dhoni is also the most-capped captain and ushered the Super Kings to title glory on five occasions, proving himself as the joint-most title winner along with Rohit Sharma. Hence, he has already established himself as a bona fide IPL superstar.
Here's the video of MS Dhoni's arrival at the ground and the spectators' reaction:
Chennai Super Kings create an unwanted record in IPL 2025
For the second consecutive season, the Yellow Army could not qualify for the playoffs and finished at the bottom of the points table. Additionally, it was the first time that the Super Kings had finished at the bottom of the points table, managing only four wins in 14 matches. Although the Rajasthan Royals also had only four wins in as many fixtures, the inaugural IPL champions had a superior net run-rate.
The Super Kings will hope that the high-profile signing of Sanju Samson brings in rich returns. They will be chuffed, given the Kerala-born keeper-batter's returns in T20 World Cup 2026, headlined by his nerveless knocks in all three knockout matches, playing an integral role in India's historic title win. Although Samson starts off his IPL seasons strongly, his form tapers off towards the end of the season. The five-time champions will hope it is not the case this time around. Notably, the Super Kings also broke their bank for batter Kartik Sharma and all-rounder Prashant Veer, a clone of Ravindra Jadeja, shelling out ā¹14.20 crore for them.
