Netflix Dating Show: A new reality dating show is on its way to entertain fans who are interested in relationship experiments, just like in Love is Blind.
Netflix, the popular streaming platform, has launched its new dating show, Age of Attraction, on March 11.
The new dating show revolves around a single idea like "Is love possible irrespective of age?" Instead of asking the usual question, "Is love really blind?", the new show revolves around the idea of love and age.
The reality show is presented by Nick Viall, a former Bachelor, and his wife Natalie Joy. What is interesting is the fact that the couple has an 18-year age gap between them, making them a perfect fit to host a show based on age-gap relationships.
The first season of the reality show includes singles from various parts of the United States. A variety of normal people and social media influencers are brought together for the show.
The idea behind the concept of Age of Attraction is that the participants get to develop an emotional connection before they disclose their ages.
Once the two contestants have decided that they wish to carry on the relationship, they move into a special room where they finally disclose their true ages. Here, they have the option of deciding whether they wish to carry on the relationship despite the age gap between them.
Once the initial episodes have been completed, the show chooses six couples who will carry on the experiment.
Netflix’s Age of Attraction Hosts
Nick Viall and Natalie Joy, the show’s hosts, are no newbies in age-gap relationships. While Nick is 44 years old, Natalie is only 26. This makes their age gap a whopping 18 years.
Nick and Natalie frequently discuss dating, relationships, and dating in the modern age in their podcast called "The Viall Files." Given their experience with age-gap relationships, it only makes sense why they would be the guides for contestants in similar relationships.
Meet the Season 1 Couples of 'Age of Attraction'
Theresa and John
Ages: John - 27, Theresa - 54
Age Gap: 27 years
John works in software sales and quickly develops a rapport with Theresa, a professional stylist. Once John and Theresa decide to commit to one another during the experiment, they realize that there is a 27-year age gap between them.
Theresa says her age “is defined by your energy,” and she is looking for an “emotionally available” person. John hopes to find a mature woman “who matches his level of ambition.”
Vanessa and Logan
Ages: Vanessa - 49, Logan - 29
Age Gap: 20 years
Vanessa, who is a salon owner, has been proposed four times but has never married. Before appearing on the show, she said that she was hoping to find someone who is "honest, dependable, accountable." She meets Logan, who is 29 and has a job in corporate purchasing. While she seems to have very strong chemistry with Logan, she is 20 years older than Logan and he is very independent.
Pfeifer and Derrick
Ages: Pfeifer - 23, Derrick - 43
Age Gap: 20 years
Derrick is a father of two who works in medical sales and is looking for a person who has a similar positive attitude towards life. Pfeifer is a young woman who is a graphic designer. She says she is a "whirlwind of fun," and she is looking to meet someone who likes her type of personality.
When Derrick and Pfeifer meet, they seem to hit it off right away. After realizing that there is a 20-year age gap between them, they decide to go along with the experiment and see how their relationship works out.
Leah and Chris
Ages: Leah - 41, Chris - 26
Age Gap: 15 years
Leah is a flight attendant by profession. Her objective for joining the show was to find a younger partner who is physically active like her.
Chris is a public speaker and an entrepreneur. He is close to his family. He gets along well with Leah, but then he discovers that there is a 15-year age gap between them.
Leah is comfortable with a younger partner; however, it is important to consider that Chris has to deal with the age gap between him and Leah.
Libby and Andrew
Ages: Libby - 22, Andrew - 38
Age Gap: 16 years
Andrew owns a bar and wants to find his "fairy-tale ending." He not only wants a romantic relationship but also a person who may become a kind stepmother to his two daughters.
Libby is a social media manager. She considers herself a "hopeless romantic." She wants someone older than her. She considers maturity a key factor in a relationship.
Finally, the couple shares their ages. There is a 16-year gap between Libby and Andrew. There are doubts about Libby being ready for the responsibilities that come with Andrew's family.
