PSL 2026: As the new season of the Pakistan Super League gets closer, there is a lot of positive energy in the Karachi Kings camp. Left-arm pacer Mir Hamza has shown strong belief in captain David Warner , calling him a "natural leader" who can take the team forward in PSL 2026.
Warner is back as captain for his second straight season. Last year, he helped Karachi Kings reach the playoffs, although they were knocked out by Lahore Qalandars, who went on to win the title. This time, the team is aiming to go one step further.
PSL 2026: Mir Hamza Praises Warner and Team Balance
Speaking before a training session, Hamza talked about the impact Warner has on the team. He believes Warner's friendly nature and smart thinking help create a positive environment in the dressing room.
"Having David Warner as captain again this season is a big positive for us. He is very supportive and a natural leader," Hamza said.
Hamza also highlighted the importance of Salman Ali Agha in the squad. He feels the all-rounder adds strength to the middle order.
"We also have a strong middle-order option in Salman Ali Agha, who can contribute with both bat and ball and is capable of playing long innings," he added.
PSL 2026: Preparation and Warm-Up Boost
The team's preparation is now back on track after a short break during Eid. A recent warm-up match has helped players get back into rhythm.
"Our preparation is going well and the warm-up match has come at the right time," he stated. "Due to the Eid holidays, we could not train much earlier, but now we are getting valuable practice ahead of the PSL, and the warm-up game is helping us gain proper match rhythm."
Hamza also made it clear that his focus is on performing well for the team.
"My current focus is to perform well for my franchise. With two new teams added, more talent will emerge and the competition will become tougher, but the weather is unlikely to have much impact on the matches," he concluded.
PSL 2026: New Format and Tougher Competition
This season will be bigger than ever, with eight teams taking part for the first time. New teams like Hyderabad Kingsmen and Rawalpindi have joined the league. A total of 44 matches will be played over 39 days, making it a packed and exciting schedule.
However, there are some changes as well. The Pakistan Cricket Board has decided that all matches will be played only in Karachi and Lahore, and without spectators.
PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi confirmed these updates after discussions with franchise owners and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
