The defending champions, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, and the strugglingMumbai Indians are set to meet again in the Indian Premier League 2026 season on May 10, Sunday at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium in Raipur in the second match of today's IPL doubleheader.

After a decade-long hiatus, the IPL returns to Raipur, bringing with it a legendary battle between Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. However, the concern for fans in Chhattisgarh is the unpredictable weather patterns hovering over Raipur. Will it rain today during the RCB vs MI match?

Why are RCB playing their home match in Raipur instead of Bengaluru?

Royal Challengers Bengaluru are playing today's IPL 2026 fixture at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Cricket Stadium in Raipur due to an earlier contingency agreement signed when the availability of the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium was still uncertain.

After the tragic stampede during RCB's 2025 title celebrations, a judicial report declared the Bengaluru venue "highly unsafe," forcing it out of action for several months.

With doubts surrounding safety clearances at the time, RCB, the BCCI and the Chhattisgarh government finalized a deal in early 2026 to use Raipur as a backup home venue.

Even though Chinnaswamy later received conditional approval before the season began, the franchise chose to honour its prior commitment by hosting two home matches in Raipur.

What happened the last time RCB faced MI?

When RCB and MI met earlier this season on April 12, 2026, the Rajat Patidar-led side defeated Mumbai Indians by 18 runs in an absolute run-fest at the Wankhede Stadium. RCB posted their highest-ever IPL total (240/4) against Mumbai Indians after being put to bat first and then restricted Hardik Pandya's men at only 222/5 in 20 overs.
