Details of Santander's New 'Bonus'

Welsh bank Santander recently launched an offer that comes with a bonus worth £180 and £25 Amazon gift card. The bank will then provide the payout to all those who are eligible within 90 days.

Gail Russell, the Head of Everyday Banking at Santander UK, elaborated on the offer stating "We're pleased to introduce our latest switching incentive, offering even greater value to customers looking to join Santander."

She then added that customers can "not only can they take advantage of this additional reward in time for summer, but  also benefit from free cash withdrawals abroad and no foreign currency conversion fees with our Edge account range - ideal for the holiday season. It's a simple, straightforward way to get rewarded for switching while enjoying the benefits of our popular current accounts."

How to Claim the Bonus

To claim the £180 bonus, customers must open a Santander Edge account online or via the Santander app. To switch to a Santander Everyday, Edge, Edge Up, Edge Explorer, or Private (v2) current account, customers can use the Current Account Switch Service (CASS) service.

Eligibility Requirements for the Bonus

Santander has made the offer open for both new and existing customers. But to fulfill the eligibility criteria, customers must:

• Be a UK resident from the ages of 18 to 73.

• Not have held a Santander current account on 1st January 2025.

• Complete the full switch within 60 days of the initial switch request, including closing their external account,

• Pay in at least £1,500 to their eligible Santander account within 60 days of the initial switch request, which can be done through one or more payments.

• Have at least 2 Direct Debits.

Conditions to Claim the Bonus

While speaking about the conditions to claim the bonus, a spokesperson from the bank said “We’ll check your Santander account 60 days after the switch has been instructed. If you qualify, we’ll make the switcher an offer and pay you within 30 days.The payment will be made directly into your Santander account. No alternative payment is available".

It is also important to note that the offer comes with a cap of one payment per account. So, even joint account holders will qualify for a single payment between them. And the account from which they are switching to Santander Edge, must be from a bank that is included in the Current Account Switch Service (CASS) service.
