A woman who was killed in the gunfire outside a city centre bar in Sheffield during the Bank Holiday on Monday has been identified by the police as Shanice Brookes.
According to a statement by the officers, the 30-year-old was rushed to the hospital due to a critical injury after she sustained a gunshot wound at 2.45 am. The woman was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Her family paid an emotional tribute to the “much-loved” mother-of-one. The woman was out with friends when the violence erupted, the family stated. The incident occurred outside the One Four One bar on West Street, a popular nightlife hub often frequented by students and residents.
The shooting has sent shockwaves through the Sheffield community, prompting a heavy police presence that has remained at the scene throughout the week as investigators work to piece together the circumstances of the tragedy.
Three Arrested in Murder Investigation
South Yorkshire Police have acted swiftly in the aftermath of the shooting, confirming the arrest of three individuals on suspicion of murder. A 30-year-old man and a 32-year-old woman were apprehended in the vicinity of Stockport in Greater Manchester, while a second 30-year-old man was detained within Sheffield. All three suspects remain in custody as detectives continue their inquiries.
Assistant Chief Constable Colin McFarlane described the event as "devastating" and emphasised the department’s commitment to delivering justice. “First and foremost, our thoughts are with her family and everyone who knew and loved her,” McFarlane stated.
