Shraddha Kapoor's Eetha, Based On Marathi Artist Vithabai Narayangaonkar, To Release On THIS Date

Shraddha Kapoor's much-awaited film Eetha finally has an official release date. Based on Vithabai Narayangaonkar, one of Marathi folk theatre's most respected names, the film is set to arrive in cinemas on August 28, 2026, coinciding with Raksha Bandhan, as confirmed by t rade analyst and film critic Taran Adarsh in his recent X post.

Adarsh wrote, "DINESH VIJAN - LAXMAN UTEKAR REUNITE: SHRADDHA KAPOOR STARS IN 'EETHA' - RELEASE DATE LOCKED… Following the blockbuster success of Chhaava, Dinesh Vijan and Laxman Utekar reunite for Eetha - a bold and emotionally charged film that features Shraddha Kapoor in a powerful, author-backed role. The release date has been locked: 28 Aug 2026."

Why Eetha Is Important

Shraddha Kapoor began filming for Eetha in November last year. Directed by Laxman Utekar and produced by Dinesh Vijan's Maddock Films, the project has been the subject of curiosity among fans who have been waiting for the actress' return to the big screen after her last venture Stree 2 where she was seen alongside Rajkummar Rao, Pankaj Tripathi, Aparshakti Khurana and Abhishek Banerjee among others.

It was just last month that the makers completed the shoot for the film with a massive montage song sequence in Bhor, as reported by Mid-day. The song encapsulates the emotional depth of Shraddha's character. The report suggested, "The final song has a montage that chronicles the journey of Shraddha's character from a young woman to her brush with fame and finally how she falls on hard times. Like the remaining numbers, this too has been choreographed by Vaibhavi Merchant."

What Is Eetha About

A biography of Marathi folk artist Vithabai Narayangaonkar, an influential figure in Lavani and Tamasha arts, the film shows her journey to become the remarkable artist that she was. Born in Pandharpur, in the Solapur district, in July 1935, Vithabai came from a family with a strong tradition of performing traditional folk songs.

In the upcoming film, Shraddha Kapoor stars alongside Randeep Hooda who is reported to portray the male protagonist and her romantic interest. The two will be joined by Zeeshan Ayyub whose character is expected to add an interesting arc in the storyline.
