Staffordshire Local Election 2026 Live Update: The counting is underway for elections in some councils of Staffordshire and it looks like Reform UK is heading a historic victory in the West Midlands county.

Nigel Farage's Reform UK had a landslide victory in the 2026 Staffordshire local elections with big wins across all three councils that were due for elections. Tamworth Borough Council used to be Labour majority with the party having 18 seats. But Reform UK successfully claimed all 9 wards with Peter Utting, Mark Anthony Abley and Hayley Coles winning big.
A similar story unfolded in the Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council where Labour won 27 seats with Labour and Conservative winning 15 and 2 seats respectively.
In Cannock Chase District Council, where elections happened in 12 out of 36 seats, results are yet to be declared.

Staffordshire has a total of 10 councils which include East Staffordshire Borough Council, Lichfield District Council, Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council, South Staffordshire Council, Stafford Borough Council, Cannock Chase District Council, Staffordshire Moorlands District Council, Staffordshire County Council, Tamworth Borough Council and Stoke-on-Trent City Council.
But of the 10 councils, elections were held in only 3 of those councils: the Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council, Tamworth Borough Council and Cannock Chase District Council.
Staffordshire Local Election 2026: Key Candidates
Ahead of the Tamworth Borough Council Elections 2026, the key incumbent candidates were Carol Dean from Labour, Jeremy Oates from Conservative and Tina Clements, who defected from Conservative to Reform UK. Tamworth Borough Council has 9 wards due for elections, include Amington, Belgrave, Bolehall, Castle, Glascote, Mercian, Spital, Stonydelph and Trinity.
Wilnecote district was among the wards, where elections were scheduled but they got postponed after the death of a candidate.
While the incumbents from Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council were Simon Tagg from Conservative and Dave Jones from Labour. The 21 wards in this council are Audley, Bradwell, Clayton, Crackley & Red Street, Cross Heath, Holditch & Chesterton, Keele, Kidsgrove & Ravenscliffe, Knutton, Loggerheads, Madeley & Betley, Maer & Whitmore, May Bank, Newchapel & Mow Cop, Silverdale, Talke & Butt Lane, Thistleberry, Town, Westbury Park & Northwood, Westlands and Wolstanton.
Seats from Cannock Chase District Council, that were up for election include Brereton & Ravenhill, Cannock Longford & Bridgtown, Cannock Park & Old Fallow, Chadsmoor, Etching Hill & the Heath, Hawks Green with Rumer Hill, Heath Hayes & Wimblebury, Hednesford Green Heath, Hednesford Hills & Rawnsley, Hednesford Pye Green, Norton Canes, and Western Springs.
