While Multan Sultans cruised to a comfortable win in Match 13 of the Pakistan Super League 2026 season, it was this small but interesting moment between the two batters that got everyone talking.
Sahibzada Farhan and Steven Smith Moment Sparks Buzz in PSL 2026
Chasing 167, Farhan and Smith looked in complete control and were scoring freely. The duo added 71 runs in just five overs, with Smith going all out and smashing an unbeaten 35 off just 12 balls at that point.
But one delivery stood out. On the last ball of the over, Smith nudged the ball onto the pads and looked for a quick single. Farhan reacted instantly, saying no and sending him back, choosing to keep the strike.

Fans Link It to Babar Azam Incident
Even though such moments are quite normal in cricket, social media had a lot to say. Many fans, especially from Pakistan, called it "revenge" for an earlier moment involving Babar Azam and Smith during the Big Bash League 2025-26.
In that game, the two had built a strong 141-run partnership. Babar was batting at a slower pace, scoring 47 off 39 balls. On the second-last ball of an over, he tried to take a single, but Smith turned it down to keep the strike. What followed was explosive, as Smith hit four sixes and a boundary in the next over to reach a 41-ball century, before Babar eventually got out.
Smart Thinking or Just Coincidence
While the idea of "revenge" caught attention online, the decision seemed more about match awareness than anything emotional. Smith was already scoring at a very high strike rate, and Farhan keeping the strike was a practical move in that situation.

After winning the toss, Multan Sultans did well to restrict Quetta Gladiators to 166 for 7. Saud Shakeel top-scored with 56, while Mohammad Nawaz and Arafat Minhas impressed with the ball through effective spin bowling.
During the chase, Farhan and Smith gave the team a flying start. After Farhan got out, Smith went on to score 53 before being dismissed. Shan Masood played a composed innings, staying unbeaten on 46 off 36 balls to guide Multan Sultans to a comfortable six-wicket win with 15 balls remaining.
With this result, Multan Sultans now have three wins from four matches, while Quetta Gladiators have lost three out of their first four games.
