As most of people were engaged in decoding the 'ABK' embroidery on the dress of Alia Bhatt, the real attraction of her outfit was the fine strokes of lavender-colored color splashed on the silk organza fabric.
It looked like a fairytale dress, and its magical appeal made everyone attracted to it instantly.
Before attending her official event at the Cannes Film Festival, Alia Bhatt was photographed in front of Hotel Martinez wearing an elegant pastel couture gown. Her fashionable gown is now trending on social media platforms.
In her stunning outing outfit, Alia took inspiration from the princesses themselves by wearing an elegant ball gown with intricate lace work, perfectly blending both romance and fashion into one exquisite dress. Her outfit consisted of a strappy gown, with a fitted top bodice that flared into an extravagant floor-length skirt. She wore a stunning ensemble with designs of landscapes, in the colors ivory, moss green, and slate blue, which looked like a painting on canvas.
The artistic brilliance behind the gown came from Ahmedabad-based muralist and painter Basuri Chokshi, who proved that hand-painted fashion carries a charm of its own.
Before stepping into the world of couture art, Basuri trained as an interior designer and spent years working with structures and spaces. However, art had always quietly surrounded her life. She grew up watching her father create intricate jewellery sketches, while her mother regularly refreshed the pichhwai paintings displayed in their home temple.
In 2012, while working in interiors, Basuri realised her true passion was creating art itself rather than simply designing around it. She eventually traded her design tools for acrylic paints and has continued pursuing her artistic journey ever since.
A closer look at Alia's gown reveals Basuri's signature artistic style, inspired heavily by nature and the botanical beauty of the French Riviera. Whether she is painting a massive double-storey mural or working delicately on silk fabric for an international celebrity, her creative process remains rooted in detailed research, precision, and soft colour palettes that draw attention effortlessly.
The hand-painted artwork on Alia Bhatt's ensemble was later transformed into an exquisite couture gown by celebrated corset designer Yash Patil and his label That Antiquepiece, known for turning fabrics into wearable art. Patil has collaborated with Alia before as well, including creating her sculpted Metallic Gota jacket and Leo draped silk organza corset for a magazine cover shoot. His signature sculpted corsets have also been worn by Bollywood celebrities like Sobhita Dhulipala and Bhumi Pednekar.
