Police have arrested Pune-based Human Resources (HR) manager Nida Khan, who is now being investigated as a key figure in a major workplace harassment and coercion case at a business process outsourcing (BPO) unit linked to a Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) facility in Nashik.
Authorities believe her role may be central to how complaints were handled inside the workplace.
Investigators took Khan into custody on Friday (April 10) after earlier reports suggested she was absconding. Her arrest follows multiple complaints filed by women employees who accused several individuals of sexual harassment, threats, and coercion inside the workplace.
Officials registered the FIRs at Mumbai Naka and Deolali Camp police stations under the Nashik City Police Commissionerate. The case has now drawn attention due to the alleged failure of internal safety systems meant to protect employees.
Who is Nida Khan? HR Manager of TCS Nashik
Nida Khan is believed to be in her early 30s and has professional links to Pune, where police teams conducted searches during the investigation. Although she worked at the Nashik facility, investigators are also reviewing her movements between Pune and Nashik as part of the probe.
When early reports about the case surfaced, Nida Khan's LinkedIn profile gained attention online. According to the information listed, she is an alumnus of Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) and claimed to be associated with Tata Consultancy Services.
At the Nashik unit, Khan worked as an HR manager, a position responsible for handling employee grievances and maintaining workplace safety. Her role also included ensuring compliance with Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) guidelines, which are mandatory in workplaces.
Police officials are now examining whether she fulfilled those responsibilities or failed to act when complaints were raised.
Nashik TCS Case: Allegations Against Nida Khan Under Investigation
Investigators suspect that Nida Khan may have ignored repeated complaints made by women employees regarding harassment inside the workplace. Several complainants have alleged that their concerns were not escalated to senior management despite repeated reporting.
Some women also claimed that they were pressured to remain silent or cooperate, raising serious questions about whether internal grievance systems were misused or deliberately ignored.
Police are examining whether Khan acted as an "enabler" in the case. Authorities have booked her under multiple charges, including outraging modesty, criminal intimidation, and violations related to alleged coercion.
Officials are also investigating whether the alleged misconduct formed part of a larger pattern that continued over several years.
Nashik TCS Case: SIT Formed to Probe Role and Workplace Practices
To ensure a thorough investigation, authorities have formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) in Nashik. The SIT is currently questioning Khan to determine the extent of her involvement and whether she played a direct or indirect role in the alleged incidents.
Investigators are particularly focusing on complaints that reportedly date back to 2022. Officials are trying to understand why earlier reports were allegedly not addressed and whether systemic failures contributed to the situation.
Police sources have indicated that more arrests or disclosures may follow as the investigation continues.
Nashik TCS Case: Social Media Reactions and Unverified Claims
The case has triggered strong reactions on social media, where Nida Khan has become the subject of widespread criticism. Some posts have drawn comparisons with themes depicted in the film The Kerala Story, while others have suggested the possibility of a broader network.
One social media account also alleged that Nida Khan was referred to as "Lady D" — reportedly a reference to Dawood Ibrahim — by some of her male colleagues, who were allegedly involved in targeting women employees for harassment and conversion, according to police sources.
However, none of these claims has been independently verified or officially confirmed so far.
Nashik TCS Case: Case Raises Concerns About Workplace Safety
The Nashik BPO case has raised broader concerns about employee safety and accountability in the IT and outsourcing sectors. Experts say HR departments play a crucial role in protecting employees, and any failure to act on complaints can have serious consequences.
Authorities continue to gather evidence as the SIT probe progresses. Officials have stated that the investigation remains active and that further developments are expected in the coming days.
