Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Turkiye signed the 'Makkah Joint Defence Agreement' on August 7.

Under the agreement, an attack against one of the countries will be treated as an attack against all of them, amid increasing security concerns in the wake of escalating tensions in West Asia.

Sharif made the remarks while speaking to Saudi Minister for Environment, Water and Agriculture Abdulrahman bin Abdulmohsen Al-Fadley, who called on the prime minister in Islamabad, according to his office.

The prime minister said the defence agreement had brought the three countries even closer together and sent "a message of unity and peace throughout the region".

Recently, Bangladesh has also said it would look at the prospect of joining the deal if formally invited.

The prime minister also said that as strategic partners, both Pakistan and Saudi Arabia must now focus their energies towards deepening economic and agricultural ties.

He expressed satisfaction with the constructive engagement between the two sides, particularly with regard to export of agricultural products by Pakistan.

Both sides also exchanged views on enhancing agricultural productivity in Pakistan, through the use of technology, research and development and more efficient use of water resources.

The prime minister also announced that a delegation of agricultural experts from Pakistan would soon visit Riyadh to carry forward these discussions with a view to realise the full potential of this partnership.

Separately, the Saudi minister met Field Marshal Asim Munir, who reaffirmed Pakistan's commitment to strengthening its partnership with Saudi Arabia.

The army said in a statement that the two sides discussed matters of mutual interest, while the field marshal highlighted the brotherly relations between the two countries. He reaffirmed the country's commitment to further strengthening the longstanding strategic partnership.
