Samsung's latest foldable series - the Galaxy Z Fold8 and Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra - offers something many users look for in a smartphone: stable, long-lasting battery life, without sacrificing the slim form factor.
The Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, for example, features an expansive eight-inch main display that unfolds into a productive workspace for multitasking, while its advanced camera system and long-lasting battery help users create throughout the day. All of this comes in Galaxy's slimmest Z Fold design yet, measuring just 4.1mm when unfolded and weighing 215g.
While the Fold8 Ultra packs a 5,000mAh battery, the wider Galaxy Z Fold8 comes with a 4,800mAh battery.
With the Galaxy Z Fold8 series, Samsung is introducing silicon-carbon technology to the battery's anode to improve energy density. To make the higher energy density practical for everyday use, the company has also optimised the battery's overall components.
The technology is expected to deliver improved battery performance, particularly on a foldable designed for productivity-focused tasks. For office workers and power users, it could even eliminate the need to carry a power bank during busy days or while travelling.
When it comes to battery technology, Samsung says it adheres to some of the industry's strictest safety standards. As a result, safety and stability were the company's two highest priorities while incorporating a silicon-carbon battery into a Galaxy smartphone for the first time.
Samsung also believes charging speed is about more than simply chasing bigger numbers on a specification sheet. What matters most is how effective and efficient charging feels in real-world usage. According to the company, delivering a consistently fast charging experience requires the right balance between battery capacity, charging speed and the underlying product architecture. Simply increasing battery size or charging wattage is not enough. Instead, Samsung says it has optimised the entire charging system to deliver the best possible user experience.
