A Shift in Void - Exhibition of Abstracts

The Tribune 5 days ago

On view until 31 May 2026 Sameksha Gallery presents an art exhibition titled- A Shift in Void, curated by Yamini Telkar a compelling group exhibition that brings together six contemporary artists-Rashmi Khurana, Savya Jain, Prateek Gupta, Megha Madan, Aman Kumar Bavaria, and Sweeta Rai-each exploring the boundless terrain of abstraction.

Abstract art, in this context, is not a departure from figuration but an intuitive pursuit to articulate the inexpressible. It gives form to fleeting sensations, silent thoughts, and emotional undercurrents that resist definition. Through diverse materialities and visual vocabularies, the artists in this exhibition dissolve the boundaries of the visible, entering a realm of pure sensation and inner resonance.

The curatorial vision celebrates abstraction as a liberated language-one that thrives in ambiguity and depth. Rashmi Khurana's tactile paper pulp works emerge as layered, organic surfaces that pulse with quiet intensity. Savya Jain constructs bold, monumental geometries, creating visual tensions through fractured lines and stark contrasts. Prateek Gupta's sculptural interventions in transparent acrylic transform light into an active, refractive medium, opening portals of infinite perception.

Megha Madan's canvases unfold as immersive color fields, interwoven with luminous golden geometries that evoke rhythmic, almost meditative repetitions. Aman Kumar Bavaria's compositions, built from sharp, crystalline shards of primary hues, reflect the fragmented architecture of thought itself. Sweeta Rai's expansive surfaces are marked by ethereal brushwork, where color drifts and gathers, dissolving form into atmosphere.

Together, these practices articulate a "shift in void"-a movement away from representation toward a deeper, experiential language. The exhibition invites viewers to engage not with what is seen, but with what is felt-encountering abstraction as a primal, sensorial symphony.

A Shift in Void remains on view at Sameksha Art Gallery, New Delhi, until 31 May 2026.
