Amritpal Singh's aide Bajeke alleges harassment, blasphemy in Bathinda jail; audio clips surface

Bhagwant Singh, alias Pradhanmantri Bajeke, an aide of incarcerated Khadoor Sahib MP Amritpal Singh, has levelled serious allegations against the Bathinda Central Jail authorities, accusing them of harassment and blasphemy.

His claims surfaced in two audio clips, each around three minutes long, that went viral on Monday.

Bajeke, who hails from Bajeke village in Moga's Dharamkot Assembly constituency, was active on social media before his arrest over three years ago.

He is lodged in Bathinda Central Jail with four associates. In the audios, he is heard speaking to a family member, addressing her as "mata" (mother), and asking her to circulate the clips. He alleges he is being denied access to the gurdwara inside the jail and is being kept in isolation.

Claiming innocence, Bajeke says he has been in jail for nearly three years in an attempt-to-murder case "without any fault". He describes himself as a YouTuber who earlier made comedy videos.

In the recordings, he further alleges that Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel have been deployed specifically around him and that jail authorities frequently shift him within the premises. He claims basic items, including a bucket once provided to him, were taken away. He also alleges that a jail official threatened him, pulled his beard, and physically mistreated him. "The other four who came with me are kept separately, and I am under CRPF watch. I am a baptised Sikh - what wrong have I done?" he says in the audio.

Bajeke further claims he is being housed with drug addicts and that his medicines have been stopped. He warns that the jail superintendent and other officials will be responsible if anything happens to him.

He also makes political remarks, urging that his message reach Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and senior police officials, including the DGP and DGP (Jails). He alleges "character assassination" and claims interference by senior Shiromani Akali Dal leader Bikram Singh Majithia in jail affairs.

"I am not begging. I am raising my democratic right to be released," Bajeke says, adding that if he contests the 2027 election, it will be within the legal framework. "Earlier, Ravneet Singh Bittu said I should be released. I ask why I am still in jail. No one speaks for me - not even Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC). I am an associate of Amritpal and will remain one," he says. The authenticity of the audios is yet to be verified.

A senior jail functionary said they are verifying when the clips were recorded, likely during a call to a family member from the jail's STD facility. "We will take action against him in this regard as well," the official said.

Meanwhile, Tarsem Singh, father of Khadoor Sahib MP Amritpal Singh, alleged harassment of Sikh detainees in Punjab jails and demanded immediate action from the authorities.

Citing an audio call purportedly made by Bhagwant Singh, alias Pradhanmantri Bajeke from Bathinda jail, he claimed that inmates were being denied basic religious rights, including reciting prayers. He further alleged that Bajeke was subjected to mistreatment, including forcible pulling of his beard, calling it an attack on Sikh identity and faith.

Tarsem Singh also referred to reports from Muktsar district jail, alleging that another detainee Sandeep Singh Sunny was facing disrespect, with officials entering his cell wearing shoes for search despite the presence of a holy scripture.

However, he claimed that former minister Laljit Singh Bhullar was being given VIP treatment in jail, highlighting 'double standards'. He warned of a strong action by the Akali Dal (Waris Punjab De).
